One of the friendliest Yacht Clubs on the Chesapeake Bay. Sue Haven is located on Sue Creek, which is on the south shore of the Middle River about a mile in from the river's entrance.

Our Story
Sue Haven Yacht Club was formerly known as Berk’s Boat Club and was founded at Berk’s Marina on Frog Mortar Creek in 1957 by a group of men that enjoyed fishing and boating. In January of 1969, Berk’s Boat Club moved to our present location on Sue Creek, which had previously been the home of Middle River Boat Club. The remaining members of Middle River Boat Club were absorbed into Berk’s Boat Club.
In June of 1969, the club name was changed to SUE HAVEN YACHT CLUB. In 1970, steps were taken to form Sue Haven Holding Corporation. In 1971, Sue Haven Holding Corp purchased the property from P/C Herb Derwart (MRBC). P/C Herb allowed us to purchase the facility for about half of it’s actual market value, because he wanted it to remain a club. P/C Herb insisted that each member have at least one share of stock in the Holding Corp and only one vote per person no matter how many shares of stock they owned. Without his generosity, we would not have this place today.
Recent years have seen fund raising and many capital improvements including a complete tear down of the old club house and construction of a new one.
